Willow Class have been studying the work of Barbara Hepworth, focusing in particular on her sculpture series Family of Man. Today, the children spent time exploring how to use clay tools to create texture, patterns and surface detail. They experimented with different techniques and discovered how small changes in pressure or movement can completely transform the clay.
These skills will be used in the coming lessons as the children begin designing and creating their own final pieces inspired by Hepworth’s style. It was a fun, creative and very successful afternoon. Well done Willow.
