We had a fantastic day on Wednesday in Willow class as we had a very special visitor in school- local author Daniel Ingram-Brown! We started the day in a whole school assembly where he told us about the ideas behind the main characters in his books and read to us. We then had a writing workshop with Daniel Ingram-Brown where we created our own monster. We considered: What was the back story to the monster? What did it look like? How did it move? Where did it live? We then wrote to our monster to ask it questions we had to find out more about its character and then considered how the monster might respond to our questions. We got the opportunity to ask questions about what life is like as an author and understand more about the writing process from where does the initial idea come from to publishing. He also signed books and postcards for us and gave us bookmarks- it was a great day!
